Bill Macfadyen Reports Local Rx Abuse

Bill Macfadyen Tells Noozhawk's Story

Bill Macfadyen, the founder and publisher of online news source Noozhawk, is on a quest to make online news viable and sustainable. November marks Noozhawk’s fourth anniversary.

Noozhawk has a staff of professional journalists who cover government, politics and education. He relies on community contributors to report on everything else. There’s enough ink for everyone online. Sunrise member Tim Durnin has been contributing columns to Noozhawk for about six months.

With sponsorship from the USC Annenberg School for  Communication and Journalism, Noozhawk has undertaken a special report on the misuse of prescription drugs. Noozhawk is reporting on this problem and will publish a six-week series of articles. Look for this coverage starting in mid-September. Following the coverage, Noozhawk will embark on a public awareness campaign in an effort to measurably reduce the abuse of prescription drugs in the Santa Barbara community.

Bill asked for a few things from the club members:

  • If you or someone you know has a story to tell about prescription drug abuse, contact Bill. They are looking for additional sources for the reporting, particularly people who have had their families affected by this problem.
  • Subscribe to the free daily news email from Noozhawk.
  • Donate money.
