Apply to volunteer at RYLA

February 7, 2012

IMG_6554IMG_6671One of Rotary’s most effective programs is RYLA — Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Since none of our members are high school students, none of us are eligible to attend as participants. But we can volunteer at this great camp!

The camp will be April 19-22 in beautiful Ojai. There will be one advance meeting for volunteers. You must register online before February 15. You could be a counselor, like the happy guy to the right (who was later a contestant on The Bachelorette), help with registration or help with cleanup.

Don’t just think about what you can teach the students, think about what they can teach you! Maybe you’ll find a reverse mentor. Maybe you’ll find a renewed spark for service. Maybe you’ll find the best laugh or cry you’ve had in years. Think about it.

I went to RYLA in high school. I loved it. And look, I went on to start a Rotaract club, be a GSE participant and join a Rotary club. Yay RYLA!

Has anyone told Scott B. about this article? It includes the dates of RYLA 🙂

RYLA is a great program for all involved.
