Help create Fiesta magic: Decorate the float

July 28, 2012

Submitted by David Velarde and Karen Kawaguchi

Walt Stephens, Rotary District 5240 Executive Assistant Governor, Rotarian from RC of Goleta Noontime, and Fiesta Float Coordinator, needs our help.

As you know, the Rotary Clubs of Group 8 sponsor a float in the Fiesta Parade, El Desfile Historico, on Friday, August 3rd. Sunrise Rotarians are needed to help with putting flowers on the float on the night before, Thursday, August 2nd at the Carriage and Western Art Museum located at Pershing Park. It is a great Community Service activity and a chance to meet other Rotarians from Group 8. No horticultural or floral arrangement experience needed. Lots of Rotarians are needed. Just bring your gloves and pruners and have fun!

What: Rotary Group 8 Fiesta Float Flower Decorating

When: Thursday, August 2, 4:30 to 7:30 or until it is finished

Where: Carriage and Western Art Museum, 139 Castillo Street (Pershing Park)

Who: All Group 8 Rotarians, family and friends

Bring: Gloves and pruners

For bonus points: Walt will be working on building the float all week starting on Sunday, so if you are interested in contributing some light construction work (framing, painting, applying chicken wire, etc.) he will be at the Carriage Museum all day Sunday, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:30-9 PM. He would appreciate any help we can give him.
